The digital age has revolutionized how people interact, share ideas, and build relationships. Technology has become a vital tool in connecting communities, bridging gaps, and fostering collaboration on a global scale. While the convenience of digital tools cannot be understated, their true value lies in the potential to create meaningful bonds within and across communities, regardless of geography, language, or cultural barriers.

The Evolution of Community Connections

Community Benefit, as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), represents what non-profit hospitals contribute to their communities in lieu of paying federal taxes. Because the IRS has never articulated the assumptions upon which the community benefit requirement is based, nor desired outcomes, the regulation cannot be evaluated nor validated. Without a rationale and explicit goals or an underlying causal model, it is difficult ascertain how or if hospital community benefit activities have impacted individuals, communities, or institutions commensurate with the costs incurred. The leap to the ultimate question is also challenging: is the policy of requiring non-profit hospitals to provide community benefit as defined by the IRS improving the health status of the communities served? Or, are hospitals simply fulfilling a financial obligation by spending money on a variety of activities that the IRS deems “contribute” to the community?

Furthermore, amongst others, one big challenge of DT is to contribute to areas related to sustainability. The objective of this article is to offer an exploratory review of how a small sample of leading Mexican companies have used DT as an enabler to be more efficient in some sustainability-related issues. The companies analyzed in this paper belong to different sectors: communication services, retail, financial, food and beverages, and materials. Through the identification of DT initiatives and implementations across time, a radar chart was constructed in order to identify, as a first approach, those related to sustainability in order to identify evidence of what some companies are doing in this regard. In addition, actions were grouped under the Business Dimensions defined by Deloitte Development LLC in order to emphasize the focus given by the organizations. One of the main conclusions from the evidence is that indeed big companies have a digital strategy agenda but not necessarily related to sustainability, but also that it is collaterally affected positively due to the economies of scale and operational improvements, from DT. This a qualitative primary study that can be reinforced in the future with analytical evidence that can measure impacts, effects, etc., to enrich strategies that relate to both DT and sustainability.Read More - Ciolook Media
